As part of the Weave Learning Center’s Relational 1:1 module, we invite you to practice your new skills with a member of the Weave community. Here’s how to use this forum to get matched for a Relational 1:1 exchange:

Step 1: Look through the comments below and look for a reply that contains “[OPEN]” next to a member’s name. This means an individual is looking for a conversation partner.

Step 2: Once you find an [OPEN] reply, private message the member to connect. Click their profile picture to get to their profile. Then send a private message with the subject “Relational 1:1 Request”. (Here are instructions for how to send a private message).

Step 3: Coordinate a time to meet for a 30 minute virtual Relational 1:1. Enjoy the conversation!

Step 4: After your exchange, come back to this post and edit the comment to say [CLOSED] so others don’t reach out. (But if you want to keep doing 1:1s, keep it [OPEN]! 🙂)

If all people are listed as [CLOSED]: This means everyone has been matched so you should add yourself to the list. Reply to the discussion thread and use this template to indicate you are open to connect:

• Include: [OPEN], Your name and what excites you about practicing a Relational 1:1, and list your availability (days of the week/morning/afternoon/time zone/etc.)

Hinge, the dating app, is partnering with DoSomething Strategic and the Foundation for Social Connection to invest $1 million into social groups and clubs that are creating opportunities for young adults to connect in-person. This is an opportunity for weavers in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York working with Gen Z (18-26 year olds) to get funding to support their weaving.

The Bob Barker Foundation is supporting nonprofits working with at least 100 incarcerated or formerly incarcerated individuals to reduce recidivism. Projects include job training, violence interruption, and providing community connection and support. There is no deadline for the application.

The Bank of America Foundation is seeking applications from nonprofits to support health and jobs initiatives for individuals and families. The request for proposals offers these examples of projects that could involve weaving: access to healthcare, food access and nutrition, family stabilization, services for the homeless, youth workforce development and employment, skills training for adults through alternate routes, and removing barriers to employment.

The Food & Society program opened applications for their 18-month Aspen Food Leaders Fellowship which unites promising food system leaders to ignite personal transformation, cross-sector collaboration, and scalable change toward a fair, sustainable, and healthy food system. It’s a great opportunity for weavers working in the space of sustainable food systems.

The Clif Family Foundation – from the family that created Clif Bars –  is providing small grants to nonprofits doing work to strengthen the food system, enhance community health, and safeguard the environment.  If you have a sustainable and community-focused project, like Ulysses Archie Jr. or  Charles DeBarber, it might be a great fit for this grant.

Dollar General Literacy Foundation is supporting nonprofits, schools, libraries, and colleges that operate within 15 miles of a Dollar General store and are working to provide adult and family literacy programs. If you are bringing together your community around reading, take a look to see if there’s a Dollar General nearby.
